Key points
- Nevada Medicaid pays for rides to covered medical and dental visits at no cost to you. A ride can be a bus pass, a rideshare, a van, a wheelchair van or gas money.
- People 65 and older stayed on fee-for-service Medicaid in 2026. So anywhere in the state, you book with Medical Transportation Management (MTM) at 1-844-879-7341.
- Call at least three business days before the visit, Nevada Medicaid says. A ride home from the hospital must come within three hours.
- Since July 2026, MTM pays 23.5 cents a mile when you, a friend or family member drives you.
If you're new to this, start with how rides to medical appointments work. This page covers Nevada: who books Medicaid rides, the phone numbers, and what to do when a ride doesn't come. Nevada's other offices are on Medicare help in Nevada.
Nevada Medicaid pays for rides to the care it covers, and the state pays MTM to book them. If you're 65 or older, call MTM yourself, because you don't have a health plan doing it for you. If you stopped driving after a fall or a new diagnosis, the first call is the hardest one.
You may qualify if
- You have full Nevada Medicaid, with or without Medicare.
- The ride is to a visit Medicaid covers, with the nearest provider who can treat you.
- You have no free way to get there, like your own car or a friend who can drive.
Not sure you qualify? Ask anyway, because MTM checks your Medicaid when you call. If you would rather not do it alone, a Pair Team advocate can book your rides with you in one call.

How do I book a ride with MTM?
To book a ride, call MTM at 1-844-879-7341, Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Call three business days ahead, because MTM may not set up a routine ride with less notice.
- Have this ready: your name and Medicaid ID number, your address and phone, the doctor's name, address and phone, and the date and time.
- Say what you need, like a wheelchair van or someone to ride with you.
- Book the ride home too. If you didn't, call MTM when the visit ends, and a driver should come within an hour.
- For urgent care or a hospital discharge, call MTM 24 hours a day.
What kind of ride will I get?
MTM gives you the least costly ride that works for your health, Nevada Medicaid's rules say. If you live within three-quarters of a mile of a bus stop, expect a bus pass unless your doctor says you can't ride the bus. If you qualify for paratransit, the shared van your transit agency runs, Medicaid expects you to use it.
If MTM offers a ride you can't safely use, tell them why and ask your doctor for a note.
How do I set up rides to dialysis?
For dialysis, tell MTM your days and times so it can book your regular trips ahead. Nevada Medicaid counts dialysis, chemotherapy and adult day care as standing services that MTM schedules in advance. Call MTM if your schedule changes or you go into the hospital.
What if my ride is late or does not come?
If your driver is more than 15 minutes late, call MTM at 1-844-879-7341 right away. State rules ask you to be ready 15 minutes before pickup and to stay ready for 30 minutes after it.
- Call your doctor or dialysis center to say you're running late.
- Write down the date, the time and who you talked to.
- File a complaint with MTM's We Care Line at 1-866-436-0457, or use its online form.
- If MTM doesn't fix it, email Nevada Medicaid at transportation@nvha.nv.gov.
Your rights if MTM says no
- You get the reason in writing. MTM must send a Notice of Decision within five business days, Nevada Medicaid's manual says.
- You have 90 days to disagree. Call 1-866-436-0457 or write to MTM to ask for an appeal or a State Fair Hearing.
- Rides can keep coming. If you ask for a hearing over the type of ride, MTM provides the ride you asked for until the hearing decides.
- MTM must help you file. It must also give you a ride to the hearing if you need one.
What a Pair Team advocate does
In Nevada, many of the calls we get about rides start with a bus pass that doesn't work for someone who can't walk to the stop. This is what we do:
- Call MTM with you to book rides, and set up your regular trips to dialysis or therapy.
- Get your doctor's note when the bus isn't safe for you, and ask MTM for a better ride.
- Call MTM when a ride doesn't come, and file the complaint or appeal with you.
- Help with what usually comes with it: Medicaid paperwork, food, utilities and housing.
An advocate is covered by Medicare if you qualify. It takes two minutes to find out.

Frequently asked questions
Does Nevada Medicaid pay for Uber or Lyft?
Nevada Medicaid can pay for Uber or Lyft when MTM picks a rideshare for your trip, Nevada Medicaid says. MTM decides the type of ride, so ask when you book.
Can a family member drive me and get paid for gas?
Yes, a family member or friend can get paid for gas if MTM approves the trip first. Since July 2026, MTM pays 23.5 cents a mile on a reloadable debit card.
Does Nevada Medicaid pay for rides to the pharmacy?
Yes, Nevada Medicaid's rules list rides to and from the pharmacy for medical needs as same-day trips.
Can someone ride with me?
Yes, MTM can approve an adult 18 or older to ride with you when your health means you need help, and their trip is covered. If you get personal care services, you can ask for your care worker to ride with you.
I only have QMB. Can I get Medicaid rides?
No, Nevada does not give Medicaid rides to people who only have QMB or another Medicare Savings Program, its rules say. Ask your Medicare plan if it covers rides, or dial 211 for local programs. You may also qualify for full Medicaid, so see Medicare and Medicaid in Nevada.
Can I see a doctor far from home?
You can, but Medicaid rides go to the nearest provider who can treat you, and MTM weighs how long you've seen your doctor. For trips outside your area, MTM can help with meals and a place to stay.
