Queens has its own HRA offices for Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). NYC Aging pays groups like Queens Community House, Selfhelp and Sunnyside Community Services to help people 60 and older at home. They serve Astoria, Long Island City, Jackson Heights, Corona, Flushing, Bayside, Forest Hills, Ridgewood, Jamaica and the Rockaways. Where do I apply for Medicaid in Queens?

You can apply for Medicaid in Queens online at Access HRA, or at one of two HRA Medicaid offices. The Queens Community office is on the 3rd floor of 32-20 Northern Boulevard in Long Island City. It's open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Jamaica office is on the 8th floor of 165-08 88th Avenue, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In 2026, one person 65 or older can get Medicaid with up to $1,836 a month in income. That's $1,856 with the $20 the state leaves out. Savings can be up to $33,038. The same form checks you for the Medicare Savings Programs in New York, which can pay the $202.90 a month Medicare costs you, usually taken out of your Social Security check. Read Medicare and Medicaid in New York to see how they fit.

Where can I get free Medicare advice in my language in Queens?

You can get free Medicare advice in Queens from the Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP), run by NYC Aging. Its Queens sites are India Home in Jamaica, Sunnyside Community Services, and the RAICES centers in Corona and Astoria. RAICES staff speak English and Spanish, the group says. All sites see people by appointment.

For other languages, start with a group that serves your community. Korean Community Services runs older adult centers in Flushing and Corona and helps people sign up for health coverage. The Chinese-American Planning Council runs the Nan Shan Senior Center in Flushing, at 718-358-3030. HIICAP doesn't sell plans, and Pair Team doesn't either.

How do I find an older adult center in Queens?

Who helps with care at home in Queens?

For help at home, NYC Aging pays one case management agency to cover each part of Queens. A case manager calls, then visits to set up meals at home, housekeeping or help with bathing. They don't charge for their time, though some services ask for a fee or a gift, NYC Aging says. Queens agencies include Queens Community House (718-268-1412), Selfhelp (718-321-8194), Sunnyside Community Services (718-784-6173) and Services Now for Adult Persons (718-454-2385). Aging Connect tells you which one serves your street.

NYC Aging's home care is for people without Medicaid. With Medicaid, call CASA South, which serves Queens from Brooklyn, at 718-250-5631. You may also be able to pay a family member through New York's home care programs.

Where can I get food help in Queens?

For food help in Queens, apply for SNAP online or at a SNAP Center in Long Island City, Jamaica or Rockaway. SNAP pays up to $306 a month for one person. For people 60 and older in New York, the income limit is $2,660 a month from October 1, 2026. See SNAP for seniors in New York.

For food right away, Masbia of Queens in Forest Hills gives out free food packages by appointment at 718-534-7321. No ID is needed, Masbia says, and you can get one package a week.

Who sends my power and gas bills in Queens?

Who sends your power bill in Queens depends on where you live. In the Rockaways, it's PSEG Long Island. In the rest of Queens, it's Con Edison. Your gas comes from National Grid or Con Edison, since both serve parts of the borough.

Start with HEAP, which you can apply for on Access HRA or at 32-20 Northern Boulevard. Regular HEAP takes applications from November 2, 2026, for one person with income up to $3,563 a month. A HEAP grant signs you up for Con Edison's and National Grid's monthly discounts. PSEG Long Island's credit of $45 or more needs an application, and a HEAP award letter gets the biggest one. See utility bill help in New York.

What a Pair Team advocate does

In Queens, the hard part is often finding help in the right language, or knowing which utility to call. Your advocate makes the calls and follows up until there's an answer.

  • Apply for Medicaid on Access HRA with you, or tell you whether Long Island City or Jamaica is closer.
  • Book a HIICAP visit at India Home, Sunnyside or a RAICES center.
  • Find the case management agency for your block and set up meals at home.
  • Get your HEAP application in, then check for the Con Edison, National Grid or PSEG Long Island discount.

An advocate is covered by Medicare if you qualify. It takes two minutes to find out.
