What a Pair Team advocate does

In Moreno Valley, calls to us often start with a parent who stopped driving or a past-due power bill. Your advocate makes the calls and follows up until there's an answer.

  • Book MoVan for a doctor visit, or set up your first RTA Dial-A-Ride trip.
  • Help you apply for IHSS and get ready for the social worker's home visit.
  • Help with MVU's Energy Bill Assistance or Emergency Assistance Fund forms, or with CARE.
  • Find the next Senior Mobile Pantry date at the Conference and Recreation Center.

An advocate is covered by Medicare if you qualify. It takes two minutes to find out.

Frequently asked questions

I live in Perris. Is this my page?

If you live in Perris, the county help on this page is yours, but DPSS has its own office in Perris. MoVan is only for Moreno Valley residents. RTA Dial-A-Ride serves Perris too.

My parent lives in Riverside. Is there a page for that?

Riverside has its own page: Medicare help in Riverside. The county offices are the same. But Riverside has its own power company, its own vans called Riverside Connect and its own senior centers.

Is my power from Moreno Valley Utility or Edison?

Your power is from Moreno Valley Utility if its name is on your bill. MVU serves more than 6,500 customers in newer parts of the city, it says. If your bill says Southern California Edison, use SCE's programs.

What if I get a shut-off notice?

If you get a shut-off notice, call your power company the same day and ask about a payment plan. MVU customers can also ask about the Emergency Assistance Fund. Then call Community Action at (951) 955-4900.
