How do I apply for Medi-Cal, CalFresh or IHSS in Rancho Cucamonga?
You can apply for Medi-Cal or CalFresh at BenefitsCal.com, by phone or at the TAD office at 10825 Arrow Route. During fall Open Enrollment, its counselors hold appointment days at the Brulte Senior Center, in English or Spanish. HICAP doesn't sell insurance, the council says, and Pair Team doesn't sell plans either. Open Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7 each year, and changes start January 1.

The James L. Brulte Senior Center, 11200 Base Line Road, offers a gym, more than 30 clubs, dances and bingo on Tuesdays. It's open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays until 5 p.m.
Lunch is served on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in David Dreier Hall. Family Service Association runs it for people 60 and older, with a suggested $3 donation.
How do I get a ride in Rancho Cucamonga?

If you're 62 or older, Omnitrans also helps pay for Uber or taxi rides. Uber riders get up to $15 off each trip, Omnitrans says, so call (909) 379-7341 to sign up. If you have Medi-Cal, your plan also gives rides to medical visits. See Medi-Cal rides in California.

To lower your power bill in Rancho Cucamonga, first check who sends it. RCMU, the city's own power company, serves more than 3,900 homes and businesses in the southeast part of the city. Its Low Income Program takes $10 off every month if you send this year's LIHEAP award letter and a photo ID. Call (909) 919-2612, and ask about its Medical Support Assistance program if you use medical equipment.
Most homes get power from SCE, which takes 30 to 35 percent off through CARE. SoCalGas takes 20 percent off gas. From June 2026 to May 2027, CARE is open to homes of one or two people making up to $43,280 a year.
For water, Cucamonga Valley Water District takes $10 off each monthly bill if you already get CARE. Send your newest SCE or SoCalGas bill with the form, and make sure the names match.
For a big bill, call Community Action at (909) 723-1500 and press 2 when LIHEAP rounds open on capsbc.org. In 2026, one person can qualify with income up to $3,331 a month, the state says. See LIHEAP in California.

What a Pair Team advocate does
In Rancho Cucamonga, calls to us often start with a summer power bill that a fixed income can't cover. Your advocate makes the calls and follows up until there's an answer.
- Find out whether RCMU or SCE sends your power bill, and apply for the right discount.
- Send your CARE bill to the water district for its $10 monthly credit.
- Book a HICAP appointment at the Brulte Senior Center, and set up the weekday lunch.
- Help with the OmniAccess form or the Omnitrans Uber program, and book your first ride.
An advocate is covered by Medicare if you qualify. It takes two minutes to find out.
